  • ODOT completes its first Climate Change Adaptation Strategy Report
Flooding along Oregon highway 47 in northwest Oregon in 2007
ODOT has completed its first "Climate Change Adaptation Strategy Report," a review of potential impacts on Oregon's transportation system from long-term changes in weather patterns. Scientific information from the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute, along with the ODOT's experience in the field, supports the notion that events such as landslides, flooding, and wildfires will occur more often and at an increased magnitude in the future, making Oregon's infrastructure and operations even more vulnerable.

The Oregon Department of Transportation's new online Project Tracking Map allows you to track where state transportation funds are spent. The map lists basic information about most, but not all, state-managed transportation projects. Drop down menus allow you to filter the map by geographical area, legislative and congressional districts and other boundaries. Future enhancements will include more types of projects.
  • May is Transportation Safety Awareness Month
    Paving U.S. 101
Governor Kitzhaber has proclaimed May 2012 as Transportation Safety Month in Oregon. The focus this year is on road construction work zones. At any one time, there may be hundreds of work zones in operation throughout our state. Work zone safety and awareness is critical, both for drivers and the men and women that work on our roads every day.
  • May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
Riders learn safe practices during TEAM training.
As the weather improves, more and more motorcyclists will hit the roads. With that in mind, Governor Kitzhaber has proclaimed May 2012 "Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month" in Oregon. Oregon is joining with motorcycle organizations and other federal, state and local highway safety and law enforcement organizations to raise awareness about motorcycle safety.
